Davis Announces Voter V.I.P. (Voter Input Program), Opponent Refuses to Meet with Voters PDF Print E-mail

Menomonee Falls - Village President Candidate Jefferson E. Davis today announced 3 scheduled meetings for his Voter V.I.P. (Voter Input Program) efforts between now and the April 7th Election on March 21st, March 25th and March 28th.  Times and locations will be at the end of this press release.

In making the announcement Davis said,

"Too often, politicians want to be heard instead of listening to what the voters have to say.  Some governmental bodies have the "we know best" attitude, when in reality it's usually the voters that know best.  After all, they are the ones who pay the bills for the existence of government.

Our Voter V.I.P. meetings will give taxpayers a chance to be heard about what it is they want from their government instead of being shut out of their government, which has been the case with my opponent's voting record of shutting down broadcasts of Village Meetings on Cable Access TV and limiting comments from taxpayers to 180 seconds over the last 4 years he has been on the Village Board.

I believe voters should be given every chance to meet with their elected officials to share their concerns and ask questions as well as learning where the candidates stand on the issues for the future betterment of Menomonee Falls.

Unfortunately, my opponent refuses to meet with the voters as he left a message for our Campaign this week, when he reluctantly agreed only to the edited Chamber Forum on March 30th, that in part said, "I know this is probably not as many as you want, but it works for me and fits into my strategy and what we're trying to do."

The Chamber had no intention of having their long standing Village President Forum Program, which was always done by the first week of March in order to have it broadcast on Cable Access several weeks before the Election, until the Davis for President Volunteer Campaign inquired of them for the date of the program, which still might be up in the air as to whether or not it will even take place.

My Campaign has repeatedly reached out to my opponent with invitations to meet with the voters since the February 17th Primary and he has repeatedly said, "No."  Time is of the essence to meet with the voters before the April 7th Election.  Voters need to know where the candidates stand so they can make an informed decision at the ballot box.

With severe economic times at hand, the voters need to know which candidate will lower their taxes, grow the economy and give the people their government back.

The "strategy" of politicians needs to be checked at the door and voters need to have the priority, not what "works" for the politicians.

Unfortunately, there has been very little, if any, coverage of the Village President's Race in Menomonee Falls and it appears there will be very little, if any, between now and April 7th.  So, we will give voters a chance to come and meet the candidates personally and directly even if my opponent refuses to do so.  We hope he changes his mind and joins us for these 3 Voter V.I.P. Meetings."

The Voter V.I.P. Meetings will be held at John Harbor's Public Coffee House (N88 W16521 Main St., Menomonee Falls, www.johnharbors.com) as follows:

Saturday, March 21st, 9:30-11:00 A.M.

Wednesday, March 25th, 7-9:00 P.M.

Saturday, March 28th, 9:30-11:00 A.M.
